A Message from the Founder, Nichole Caswell:
The name "Changing Tides" took months for my brain to find. I threw so many different options around in my head, for months on end. I asked family and friends to give suggestions, I researched ideas online ... All with little or no success.
And then one day, I was driving and it just came to me. I committed and went with it.
And here's why ...
I have ALWAYS loved the water. I love the feeling it evokes, not only emotionally but physically. It evokes calmness, rest, relaxation, freedom and many other things, again, both emotionally and physically. My dream is to live on the water one day.
I'm at my best when I'm near water and I wanted my practice to feel like that.
And then, on a trip to Hawaii I felt it even more. Hawaiian culture shows a deep respect for Mother Nature and all living things. From the earliest days, Hawaiians had a belief system that relied on the interconnectedness of mankind and the natural elements. This learning truly resonated with me. And while I am not Hawaiian, I have the upmost respect for their culture and traditions and share a lot of them myself - connection, integrity, respect, nature, empathy and growth.
I want my practice to be a place where people come to feel connected; a place for them to grow and flourish.
Changing Tides is an organization that helps make changes and transitions smoother, similar to the tides of the sea. As an organization and individual myself, I recognize that tides can change. Emotions can come in waves. Life has it's ups and downs and can mirror the sea. I'm not a poet or writer at all, but this imagery seems fitting. We will "get through this" or "this shall pass" are very much the ways of the sea and what I hope to empower all the clients who walk through my door with. Additionally, sitting with and being present in the storm (aka your emotions) at sea (aka your body), is also something that can be applied to managing your emotions; you have to be with them and honour them to move through them … in essence “whether the storm (at sea)”.
As I mentioned, I'm neither a poet or writer, I'm also not a photographer, but I took many photos on my trip to Hawaii and have shared a few here. Please enjoy!
