Social Worker in Guelph, ON
About Shannon
Hello! My name is Shannon Silva, and I am a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). I hold a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Social Work, and Master of Social Work from the University of Waterloo.
I’ve worked in a variety of settings such as long-term care, youth facilities, and a local distress line. These spaces have allowed me to work alongside a number of populations while considering individual experiences with depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, and challenging life transitions. Through these experiences, I believe there’s profound importance in a “safe-space” and strive to provide that for each of my clients.
My goal is to offer client-centered and personalized care within the therapeutic space. I aim to professionally support you in your journey through non-judgemental and safe spaces, while also following your lead in session. I plan on implementing a multi-theoretical approach to ensure sessions are specific to your needs while drawing on a variety of counselling modalities. Together, this work can support you in developing new coping skills, setting boundaries, exploring self-compassion, and overcoming obstacles.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, music, going to concerts, and seeing loved ones. I also really enjoy traveling (although I deeply fear airplanes) and playing the occasional video game.
