About Amy

Hello, my name is Amy and I am a new Psychotherapy intern here at Changing Tides! I am currently completing my Master of Arts in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy at Wilfrid Laurier University, and I am so excited to start my Psychotherapy journey here.

I had originally completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at WLU in 2017, and from then on spent my time working in shelters, addiction treatment, and facilitating psycho-educational programming for remedial measures programs. I am currently also working as a faculty member at Conestoga College, teaching classes on client advocacy and client-centered care. Within my time working in community services, I gained experience supporting clients through crisis situations, with anger management, coping strategies, CBT programming, addiction and various other mental health treatments. My experiences with these programs instilled a passion for walking with clients on their unique journeys and made me recognize how privileged I am to be able to work with clients to reach their individualized goals.

In my practice I hope to create an open and comfortable space for clients to share their experiences and work towards their personal mental health and wellbeing goals. I view my role as client-centered and coming from a harm-reduction, non-judgemental lens. I have specific interest in working with clients who want to address emotional regulation, relationship building, features of BPD, substance use, first-responder trauma, depression, and adults wanting to work through adverse childhood experiences.

When I am not at school or working, I love spending time with the people closest to me, trying out new coffee shops and bakeries, going for walks, and indulging in lots of reality TV.
