A Local Behavioural Activation Menu
Are you familiar with this concept?
Behavioural activation is based on the theory that when individuals suffer from depression, it is common for them to increase avoidance and isolating behaviours. The concept of engaging in activities to boost your mood aims to gradually decrease these patterns and remind the individual of the joy they used to feel. This can include even the smallest of tasks such as exercise, eating at restaurants, hobbies, listening to music, completing household chores, taking regular showers etc.
Now that covid restrictions have been lifted and the warmer weather is FINALLY on its way, many local business spots are open and ready to welcome us back! If you are looking for some ways to activate your behaviour and improve your mood, Guelph has a variety of adult, budget, and kid friendly options to explore.

· Kissing Bridge Trail
The Kissing Bridge Trailway travels for 45 km through rural communities and rivers and wetlands of southern Ontario along the right-of-way of a former railway. You can take a 2km detour to see the West Montrose Kissing Bridge, which is the last covered bridge in Ontario.
The trail surface is stone chip for much of the trailway. Because the trailway runs along former rail lands, it's largely flat and even and is well-suited for several uses such as hiking, running, cycling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling (in permitted sections).
