Meet the Growing Changing Tides Team

There are a lot of new things in the works at Changing Tides Counselling. One of the most important is our growing and totally awesome team, so we’d like to introduce everyone and share a little about each of our therapists. Additionally, we’ve linked each clinician back to their profile on our website, so you can learn more about them or book an appointment.

Nichole is the founder of Changing Tides Counselling and works fulltime with us. She specializes in working with children and families, but also has a lot of experience with adults and couples. She works with a plethora of mental health struggles, all of which are listed under her profile on our website. She’s currently in the processes of obtaining her EMDR training and is excited to bring this to her practice.

Fun Fact:  Nichole spent about 3 months backpacking through Europe with a friend after high school. She has done a lot of travelling since and has more planned for the future. If you’ve had any fun travelling experiences or destinations, Nichole is always interested in hearing about it.

Rachel Millar Photo.jpg

Rachel has extensive experience working in community, residential and health based settings. She utilities a variety of modalities to develop treatment based on individual needs, while focusing on client strengths. Rachel’s goal is to help clients develop coping skills, build resiliency and foster a greater sense of holistic wellness. She works with individuals in the areas of domestic violence, sexual violence, addictions, trauma and anxiety (to name a few). Rachel is seeing clients in the evenings and on Sundays, and has in-person and virtual availability.

Fun Fact: If Rachel could have any superpower, she would want the ability to speak to animals. Rachel acknowledges that pets and animal companions can be an integral part of support systems, playing a large role in healing and wellness journeys. If Rachel had this ability, she would first ask her cats to not nap on the freshly folded laundry.

Tanya has a lot of experience in the mental health field; working with youth and adults who have experienced trauma, grief and loss, as well as those managing symptoms of anxiety, depression and adapting to life transitions (to name a few). Tanya uses a strength-based approach and draws on a variety of modalities that best suit her clients, such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and more.  Tanya is currently working virtually and is happy welcoming new clients.

Fun Fact: Tanya is a foodie at heart and loves to spend time in the kitchen cooking and baking. During COVID, she has spent a lot of time trying to master making bread. If you have any tips, send them her way!

Rachel has a wealth of experience working with youth and families. She is our resident DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy) expert and strives to have clients feel safe, understood and empowered to make positive changes. Like many of our therapist, Rachel works with a number of mental health concerns, such as anxiety, attachment, mood disorders, trauma and self-harm/suicidality (to name a few). Check out our website for more details on the support Rachel can provide for you and/or your family.

Fun Fact: Rachel has spent a total of over 200 days camping in the backcountry of Ontario in her lifetime. Any time away from work and she’s out in the wilderness, so be sure to pass on your camping recommendations!

Get to Know Us and We’ll Get to Know You!

We have a lot of exciting things coming this year … such as … more availability with the therapist of your choice, groups for kids, teens and adults, as well as a Yorkville University student joining us in the Fall. We hope we’re able to provide services to the Guelph community and, to a larger extent, those residing in Ontario (thanks to virtual sessions).  Please checkout our website for more information and to book your first no-obligation phone consultation.
